Eucharist

First Eucharist Information for Holy Angels Parish:

A child needs to have completed Level One of the Religious Education Program, either through Sandusky Central Catholic School (SCCS) or through Parish School of Religion (PSR). Usually a child does this in grade one.

A child is accepted in the Sacramental Program (Level Two) for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist after completing Level One, which is usually in grade two. This year of Sacramental preparation for these two sacraments, is a very important one for your child, as well as for your entire family. Besides catechetical instruction for your child, there are parent meetings and family retreats in preparation for the important days of each sacrament. This is the only time that a person prepares to encounter Jesus in two sacraments in the same year! It is also crucial that your family makes a commitment to regular WEEKLY attendance at Sunday Mass, if you are not already doing this. Does it make any sense to having your child make his/her FIRST Holy Communion if s/he is never brought to Sunday Mass or attends rarely? First Communion means making a commitment to receiving Jesus in the Sacrament every Sunday thereafter for the rest of one’s life. We know your child looks up to you for example, too, so let’s not give mixed messages.

Please download the Sacramental Information Sheet and return it to the Parish Office by August 31 with the $30 sacramental fee that covers the costs for both of the sacraments. Please call Sr. Joyce if the fee is a financial problem for you at this time. (419) 625-3698

See the Calendar for First Reconciliation and Eucharist of parent meetings, family retreats and dates for the reception of the sacraments. Please be sure to get these important dates on your personal calendar and to read the notes at the end of the calendar on the second side. This year we are offering each parent meeting at two different times of the day. You can choose the one that best fits your family needs. A missed meeting, will need to be made up, and Sr. Joyce will be calling you to schedule this. Hopefully all can make it to either the morning or the evening sessions. There are 2 meetings for each of the sacraments, except for parents who recently attended these meetings for an older child. They will attend the “special” meetings.

For those of you with e-mail addresses, Sr. Joyce will be sending reminders of upcoming meetings, retreats, etc. Those without, will receive a phone call reminder.
